That is an excellent idea. I recommended this site in my blog post today. (http://www.dlhweblog.blogspot.com) Hopefully, that will create some traffic also.

This may be the calm before the storm. An ad will be ran in the announcement section of the tri-county papers, Corning Observer Wednesday the 24th through the 9th.
Hopefully, if things go well, this forum will begin populating. Most of the kinks are worked out now, and it is ready to be used.

If anybody attempts to access this message board, and runs in to a 404, or an error indicating that the board is down, please send me an email. admin@corningcalifornia.net

I have had a few errors emailed to me regarding "too many connections" to my sql server. After further investigation, I found that the sql server defaults to 100 connections with my host, and this bulletin script takes up several of them. I also discovered that google and yahoo keep crawling around this message board (usually at night), and they are not shy about taking up a ton of connections at one time, thus filling up all 100 connections. I have attempted to edit the mysql file containing the max connections, and change the value to 200 instead of 100, but it appears that my host will not allow me to do so on my own.
If this becomes a problem, I will ask them to up the mysql connections, and if they should deny my request, then I will find a different host.
Web Hosts often get temperamental about increasing your mysql connections, because this can potentially increase the chances of getting Denial of Service attacks, It also add's more potential of bogging down their server. In this case, going from 100 to 200 should not be a concern, and a Corning California Message Board should never really have enough traffic to cause them any stress anyways.

So, there is a quick update on this board!

That is excellent. I anticipate this forum becoming very busy, very quickly! Good work!

Hi, I'm really enjoying the new website!
Has the "storm" started yet?

I'm really hoping this becomes as big [or bigger than. haha] as Craigslist!
Wouldn't that be wonderful?

Veronica,

I am pleased that you are enjoying the forum. It certainly has the potential to be a busy, exciting site. It will take some time for the word to get around, but it should not take long. The Administrator has advertised the forum in the local newspaper, and I have been promoting it on my blog (http://www.dlhweblog.blogspot.com) and on my Calendar of North State Events.
